F.A.Q.

Can NUVAVET ™be used as a skin protectant?
Yes, NUVAVET™ can be used as a general skin protectant. In addition, results from an independent test lab indicate that the product has antimicrobial properties. The product consistently produced an average five-log kill of a 10(6 to 9) inoculum of all organisms identified in USP <51> [Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus brasiliensis] within 30 seconds of contact.

Is NUVAVET ™safe to use on a dog/cat/horse?
NUVAVET™ has been tested extensively in standard biocompatibility and toxicity studies to ensure it is safe for use.

Is it dangerous for the animal if it licks area where NUVAVET ™is applied?
NUVAVET™ poses no health risk to the animal if it licks the bandage. It is unlikely the animal will feel the need or desire to lick the wound once the bandage has dried because it bends and moves even on previously difficult to bandage areas. You should keep the animal from licking the applied bandage until it dries, though, as saliva may interfere with the ability of the bandage to adhere to the wound.

Will NUVAVET ™wash off if the animal is bathed or if the bandage gets wet?
No, NUVAVET™ is waterproof. The bandage will naturally wear off over time. Are there any pharmaceutical agents [drugs] in NUVAVET ™? No, NUVAVET™ does not contain any pharmaceutical agents. How do I purchase a supply of NUVAVET ™for my veterinary practice?

Are there any pharmaceutical agents [drugs] in NUVAVET?
No, NUVAVET does not contain any pharmaceutical agents.

If there are no drugs in NUVAVET, then how does it work?
NUVAVET is a polymer that when applied dries to form an elastomeric film over a wound [on the skin]. This film is waterproof, breathable, and protects the wound from infection.

If I apply NUVAVET only once, will it still work?
Applying NUVAVET once will help, but we recommend that you re-apply as needed until the wound has healed.

Do I need to shave the hair around the wound before applying NUVAVET?
Most of the time it is not necessary to shave around the wound. Use your fingers to part the hair to allow the spray to reach the affected area.

How long will a bottle of NUVAVET last?
A 0.5 fl oz (15 ml) bottle contains approximately 75 single applications.

Can NUVAVET be given to my pet or animal on a long term basis?
